How Racial Bias and Disparities Create Injustice in Kentucky’s Juvenile
and Criminal Justice Systems and The Pursuit of Solutions
: NAACP of Kentucky President Marcus Ray and KACDL President Bradley Clark
Leaders in the Kentucky General Assembly including Senate Judiciary Chair Whitney Westerfield and House Judiciary Chair Edward Massey along with key, dedicated and well-informed legislators will share their thoughts about how the legislature can respond to current, critical, racial injustices that call for redress in the Commonwealth. We invite all stakeholders in the criminal justice system, including NAACP and KACDL membership, justice impacted persons, civil rights leaders, prosecutors, judges, legislators and coalitions dedicated to criminal justice reform (SOC, KFTC, League of Women Voters, ACLU, KCEP, KY Council of Churches, KY Catholic Conference) to join us in this webinar. Panelists will be asked to look at key points in the processing and prosecution of criminal cases where the impact of discretion intersects with racial bias to result in injustice. Special attention will be given to proposed criminal justice reform policies. There will be opportunity for the audience to raise questions about policy reform through the zoom chat function. We welcome your participation!
